Additional learning support
At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with a diverse range of learning needs so they can take actively engage in all areas of school life.
Our learning and support team works collaboratively with classroom teachers, parents and carers, department specialists and external providers to coordinate plans that meet each student’s unique needs.
Additional targeted support is provided by our learning and support teachers and School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs). This support is delivered through in-class assistance, small group sessions, or one-on-one support, ensuring every student receives the help they need to succeed.
Together we are creating a learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students require extra support to feel confident and to achieve their full potential at school. We work closely with families to develop and implement support plans and adjustments that meet each child’s individual needs.
Additional learning support can include:
- teachers and support staff working together with families and students
- specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- providing tailored programs to help high potential and gifted students with their advanced learning needs across the four domains
-
small group tutoring to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support for students
-
regular check-ins to review and update the planned supports
-
changes to the classrooms:
- accessible classrooms
- assistive technology
- instructional resources
- individual learning support plans
- Personalised learning pathways
-
tailored guidance, simpler content or different focus during lessons
-
assessment adjustments:
- additional time
- simplified language
- breaks during tasks
- different formats to complete a task (e.g. oral presentations instead of written assessment).
We know a student requires additional learning support when:
- teachers observe changes in learning or behaviour
- reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- parents or carers raise concerns or ask for support.
Adjustments are planned with parents or carers. They are reviewed regularly and adapted when needed. If you think your child may need extra support, please contact us. We are here to help.
