Write on is an annual writing competition open to all NSW primary students in Years 1 to 6.  Students will compose an imaginative text up to 500 words in length using the photograph above as a stimulus.

Imaginative pieces may include:  narratives, letters, poems, scripts for radio, screen and stage, interviews, journal entries.

The following assessment criteria are used by the judges when assessing entries:

  • making connections to the stimulus image;
  • engaging the audience in a way that is creative, interpretive, critical and powerful;
  • maintaining a consistent structure appropriate for the type of text selected;
  • using a range of stylistic devices appropriate for the stage of the writer and the intended audience;
  • using a variety of language, vocabulary and punctuation forms throughout the piece, considering the purpose, audience and context

Entries will be judged by a panel of Glenorie Public School teachers and the winner from each stage will be submitted to NESA.  Finalists for each stage will be presented certificates in assembly.

Please hand your entry to your class teacher or to Mrs Harmon by Wednesday 27 June (week 9).  For more information, please see Mrs Harmon.
