This year we will be celebrating Book Week and Grandparent’s Day during Education Week (6th- 10th August).
The theme for this year’s Book Week is Find Your Treasure. It is a fabulous theme and challenges us to question what we treasure in our lives. Some people may argue love matters most, others the environment. Some say freedom is our greatest treasure, while others insist it is good health. Education and a love of books would surely be near the top of our list, and so we celebrate Education Week.
As in previous years, there will be a number of events taking place throughout the day to help us celebrate the fun of learning and reading.
Our celebrations will be held on Wednesday 8th August, when families and grandparents are invited to join us for an action-packed Open Day. A detailed timetable of activities will be distributed closer to the day but events will include:
A morning tea in the library for grandparents. Kinder grandparents will receive a special gift presentation from their grandchild in the Kindergarten classrooms.
A Scholastic Book Fair running all day for children to purchase books. Parents and grandparents are also invited to purchase books to donate to the library if they wish.
A Book Parade - students will choose a book character they love and will dress up as that character to participate in a book parade.
A school assembly with performances from each Stage group.
A choir performance by our Junior and Senior Choir groups.
Open classrooms where you will be able to visit your child’s or grandchild’s classroom to meet the teacher and view some of their work.
A picnic lunch with your family at school.
There will also be a cake stall run by Year 6.
